At the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Brain Health Center, our interdisciplinary team includes pediatric epileptologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) pediatric subspecialists, neurogeneticists, neurophysiologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists and neuropathologists. We diagnose and treat children using a dynamic team-based approach that includes the most advanced and emerging diagnostic and treatment modalities, along with associated technological innovations.

Why Choose Montefiore Einstein?

Montefiore Einstein is recognized as an international referral site for complex pediatric neurological cases. We are ranked in the top 1% of all hospitals in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery, and CHAM is recognized as one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Virtually everything happening in child neurology worldwide is linked back to our seminal influence. Montefiore Einstein is among the first institutions worldwide to offer revolutionary advances in gene therapy that have transformed the neurological functioning and survival of infants and children who previously carried the bleakest diagnoses.

Internationally Recognized for Innovative Treatment

Our unique legacy continues to encompass a singular dedication to alleviating the suffering of patients and families often stigmatized by disorders of unknown origin with unusual behaviors. Since the founding of our Department and the Division of Child Neurology, we have enlisted the aid of talented and visionary scientists, inventors and clinicians, not traditionally found in academic health systems, seeking to understand normal and pathological processes of the developing brain and its lifelong trajectory when no previous template for discovery was available.

Montefiore Einstein is therefore internationally recognized for developing unique treatments for epilepsy, pediatric neuromuscular disorders, pediatric communication disorders—including autism spectrum disorders and Rett syndrome—as well as pediatric language disorders, speech and hearing impairments, neurocutaneous disorders and a range of other common and rare pediatric neurological disorders.

Advanced Diagnostics & Surgical Techniques

Our specialists use state-of-the-art imaging technology and have been involved in the development of computer-based technologies now commonly used throughout the world to guide surgery for children with nervous system disorders. As leaders in the management of craniofacial abnormalities, our team uses three-dimensional (3D) modeling and intraoperative computed tomography (CT) scanning to understand a patient’s deformity and to design and execute the surgical correction plan. We’ll coordinate any additional care or specialized services you may need, bringing together experts from across our health system to ensure your care is fully integrated and comprehensive.

We were the first to publish on advanced techniques of coupling presurgical reconstruction plans with intraoperative CT imaging of the skull. We have also achieved international recognition as a center of excellence in the management of conjoined twins as well as myelomeningocele. Our team of experts uses the most advanced surgical approaches available today, including open, minimally invasive, robot-assisted and endoscopic surgery, multispecialty surgery, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and computer-assisted surgery. If surgery is recommended as part of your care plan, we’ll coordinate scheduling with our world-renowned surgeons at one of the many locations within our health system.
