Rheumatology Services We Offer
Our comprehensive Rheumatology Program uses state-of-the-art diagnostics, leading-edge treatments, as well as specialized expertise through focused subspecialty clinics to fast-track appointments for complex conditions.
The Department provides broad diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of rheumatic and immunologic conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, and soft-tissue disorders. Serving as a primary hub for patients with chronic joint and muscle pain, the team focuses on pain relief solutions and long-term disease management.
These physicians also function as a gateway to the health system. They will coordinate any additional care or specialized services you may need, bringing together experts from across Montefiore Einstein to ensure your care is fully integrated and comprehensive. If surgery is recommended as part of your care plan, we’ll also coordinate scheduling with our world-renowned surgeons at one of the many locations within our health system.
The Rheumatology-Dermatology Combined Clinic (RDCC) offers a truly unique approach to caring for conditions that affect both the skin and connective tissues, such as lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis.
Unlike standard care, where you might wait months between separate specialist visits, our board certified rheumatologists and dermatologists see you together in the same room during a single appointment. This allows both specialists to examine you simultaneously, discuss your management plan on the spot and make immediate treatment adjustments without communication delays.
Through collaboration with nephrologists, dermatologists and neurologists, our specialists provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for this complex autoimmune condition, with particular expertise in managing systemic manifestations. Our patients have access to leading-edge, transformational therapies, including enrollment in CAR T-cell therapy clinical trials. Our Women’s Health in Lupus Clinic provides specialized care in collaboration with obstetrics and gynecology specialists for women of reproductive age (21–50 years), addressing the unique challenges of managing lupus during pregnancy and family planning.
We’ll coordinate any additional care or specialized services you may need, bringing together experts from across our health system to ensure your care is fully integrated and comprehensive.
Our Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Program provides point-of-care diagnostic imaging and ultrasound-guided procedures, enabling our rheumatology specialists, in collaboration with sports medicine specialists, to evaluate joint and soft-tissue conditions, such as inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis and tendon tears, in real time during your visit. This advanced technology enables faster, more accurate diagnoses without the wait and expense of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It also allows for precise, ultrasound-guided in-office joint injections and fluid drainage procedures.
Our Vasculitis Program takes a multipronged approach in caring for patients with vasculitic disease, ophthalmic problems that stem from rheumatic diseases and the adverse autoimmune effects of cancer immunotherapy. Our rheumatologists work closely with pulmonologists, dermatologists, oncologists, ophthalmologists and rehabilitation medicine consultants to develop the best precision treatment and disease management plans for every patient.
We’ll coordinate any additional care or specialized services you may need, bringing together experts from across our health system to ensure your care is fully integrated and comprehensive.
Our multidisciplinary team uses state-of-the-art imaging and the latest treatments for patients with psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-associated arthritis, uveitis and reactive arthritis. Our subspecialty-trained rheumatologists collaborate closely with dermatologists, gastroenterologists, ophthalmologists and rehabilitation specialists to reduce inflammation, preserve mobility and improve quality of life.
