Home to one of the most comprehensive academic radiology facilities in the nation, we perform more than eight hundred thousand diagnostic imaging exams and image-guided interventional procedures annually and are an international referral site for the most complex cases. We use the latest and most advanced diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive image-guided interventional technologies, including state-of-the-art equipment and devices, advanced 3D visualization, and artificial intelligence.

Advanced Screening
We are at the forefront of advanced screening for lung, breast and colorectal cancer, and helped to develop virtual colonoscopy, or computed tomography (CT) colonography, a minimally invasive screening test for the early detection of colorectal cancer.

Montefiore Einstein Radiology uses the most advanced screening, diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive, image-guided interventional technologies across all fields of medicine to personalize treatment and create precise, individualized care plans. Our coordinated approach enables us to efficiently diagnose conditions and develop a course of treatment to optimize outcomes. We also provide patient-centered care initiatives to enhance patient comfort during imaging procedures.
A computed tomography (CT) scan, formerly called a computed axial tomography (CAT) scan, may be preferred over an X-ray for evaluating the body’s soft tissues and organs.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses powerful magnets to create high-quality, 3D images of the brain, spinal cord, heart, muscles, joints and bones.
Mammograms, ultrasound breast biopsies and other types of breast imaging can detect breast cancer up to two years before it appears in a physical exam. At Montefiore Advanced Care, we provide both screening and diagnostic evaluations for breast cancer.
Nuclear medicine utilizes small amounts of radioactive substances to assess organ structure and function. We provide advanced general and cardiac nuclear medicine technologies, theranostics and molecular diagnostics—including the newest 3D systems for bioluminescence imaging (BLI), fluorescence molecular imaging (FMI), positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and sophisticated high-performance digital hybrid imaging (such as SPECT/CT, PET/CT and PET/MRI)—to customize care and support precision treatment plans.
Pediatric radiology is a subspecialty of radiology that focuses on the medical imaging of infants, children and adolescents. It involves using imaging technologies such as X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRI scans to diagnose and monitor conditions in young patients. Our radiologists are specially trained to understand the unique medical needs of children.
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create a continuously moving image of a patient’s internal organs and tissues, blood flow, digestive function and more.
X-ray is a form of high-energy electromagnetic radiation that can pass through most solid objects to produce images of the inside of the body. X-rays are used to create images of bones to detect fractures, examine soft tissues such as the lungs for conditions such as pneumonia and guide medical procedures. This long-trusted imaging technology allows doctors to see a patient’s bones, organs and tissues.
