Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care’s licensed acupuncturists provide personalized care for a wide range of conditions, from myofascial pain and headaches to neuropathy and osteoarthritis.
Our approach is grounded in the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on balancing and improving the flow of natural energy—known as Qi—to promote healing and relieve symptoms. Our team of specialists gently inserts extremely thin needles into specific acupuncture points to restore this energy flow, helping to reduce discomfort, promote relaxation and invigorate the people we serve.
We deliver acupuncture as a safe, evidence-based and people-centered therapy. Our practice is a leading example of how we combine the best of traditional principles with modern, evidence-based clinical protocols to offer comprehensive management and personalized solutions.
The Montefiore Einstein Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will create a customized recovery plan tailored to your specific diagnosis. Recovery typically includes physical therapy, home exercise programs designed for your injury and nonopioid pain management regimens. Our specialists provide relief from a broad range of spine disorders using the most advanced nonsurgical, minimally invasive treatment options.
Our occupational therapists work collaboratively to design individualized rehabilitation programs for people of all ages with physical limitations due to injury, chronic conditions or disabilities. The goal is to enable patients to perform personal care, household chores, and work, school or leisure activities more independently and safely. In addition, our therapists perform home safety evaluations and environmental assessments to address “real-life” challenges and provide recommendations for modifications to promote safety and independence in both pre- and postoperative settings.
The renowned team of physical therapists at Montefiore Einstein designs and implements rehabilitation programs for individuals of all ages who face physical limitations resulting from injury, illness or surgery. Through close collaboration with our physiatrists and specialists, our customized regimens use a wide range of advanced therapeutic modalities and treatments to enhance independence, alleviate pain, prevent further injury or damage and restore optimal function for our patients.
Our Physical Therapy (PT) team provides evidence-based treatments that support patient recovery. Your provider may recommend one of our many advanced therapies, which can include manual therapy (hands-on mobilization of soft tissue), therapeutic modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, orthotic/prosthetic training and ongoing patient and family education.
The Montefiore Einstein Occupational Therapy (OT) team provides evidence-based treatment that supports patient recovery. The team offers a wide range of treatment options that an occupational therapist may integrate into the therapeutic program, including manual therapy, therapeutic modalities, neuromuscular re-education, splinting, orthotic/prosthetic training, wheelchair and mobility device evaluations, medical equipment assessment and training, lymphedema management, cognitive re-education and ongoing patient and family education. Our professionals are skilled at managing a wide range of conditions that affect movement, function and overall physical health.
Montefiore Einstein’s sports medicine physicians help patients manage and recover from musculoskeletal injuries, both athletic and non-sports-related. The Montefiore Einstein Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Treatment team uses state-of-the-art methods to help individuals recover from injuries, surgeries or conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. These services are designed to improve mobility, reduce pain and restore function to the musculoskeletal system.
Multidisciplinary treatment plans tailored to each patient may include nonsurgical procedures, ultrasound-guided injections, trigger point injections, osteopathic manipulation, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and appropriate physical therapy and bracing.
Our approach to hand and upper extremity care is focused on reducing pain, improving function and restoring mobility through a customized treatment plan. The specific approach depends on the underlying cause of pain and the severity of symptoms.
The Montefiore Einstein Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will create a customized recovery plan for each specific diagnosis. Recovery may include physical therapy, home exercise programs designed for the injury and nonopioid pain management regimens.
Our custom-designed care plans aim to:
- Improve flexibility, strength and dexterity
- Restore normal hand and arm function for everyday activities
- Prevent further injury through proper ergonomics and movement techniques
- Support recovery after surgery or injury with progressive, supervised exercise programs
Our approach to therapeutic injections and peripheral nerve blocks is centered on providing targeted pain relief and restoring function. These minimally invasive treatments are selected based on each patient’s diagnosis and may form part of a comprehensive care plan that also includes physical therapy and other nonsurgical treatments.
All decisions regarding the use of injections or nerve blocks are individualized, aiming to optimize pain control, minimize recovery time and restore the highest level of function possible for each patient.
- Therapeutic injections: Therapeutic injections, such as corticosteroids or anesthetics, are used to reduce inflammation, decrease pain and support the healing of tendons, joints or nerves.
- Peripheral nerve blocks: These treatments can provide immediate and sometimes long-lasting pain relief by targeting specific nerves that are transmitting pain signals. This approach not only improves patient comfort but also enables greater participation in therapy and functional rehabilitation.
Our approach to care with osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) uses hands-on, noninvasive techniques to address pain and dysfunction and promote whole-body healing holistically. OMM is grounded in osteopathic principles that recognize the connection between your body’s structure and its function. The goal of our treatments is to restore balance in the musculoskeletal, nervous, lymphatic and vascular systems.
Our specialists are experts in a range of OMM treatments that are tailored to individual needs and conditions. These techniques include:
- Joint mobilization
- Soft tissue manipulation
- Myofascial release
These treatments are designed to complement conventional therapies, reduce pain, improve mobility and support patients’ self-healing processes. OMM is provided as an adjunct to other medical and rehabilitative care. It is an integral part of a comprehensive and personalized care plan designed to restore each patient’s health and function.
